House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas summary

“Bryce Quinlan never anticipated encountering a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, her sole desire is to return. Everything she cherishes resides in Midgard: her family, friends, and her beloved mate. Stranded in an unfamiliar realm, she must rely on her cunning to find her way home. However, trust is a precious commodity in this strange world, and she struggles to discern whom to rely on.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in dire circumstances in the past, but this may be his most challenging ordeal. After experiencing a brief period of having everything he ever wanted, he finds himself imprisoned in the Asteri’s dungeons once again, stripped of his freedom and ignorant of Bryce’s fate. He is determined to rescue her, but his hands are metaphorically tied until he can break free from the Asteri’s control.
